Jerry Anderson Nix, 72, of Jasper went to his heavenly home on January 14, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 3, 1952 at Peoples Hospital in Jasper, AL to Johnny and Ellen Nix. He attended Oakman High School where he played football. After graduation, he enlisted and served 4 years for the United States Navy including the Vietnam War on U.S.S Purdy. After retiring from Alabama Power Company, he enjoyed many hobbies including: blacksmithing, farming, hunting, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family. He enjoyed his time volunteering as a teen counselor at Camp MikNick. He was an avid reader and a do it yourself man. Most importantly Jerry was a devoted man of God. He deeply loved and cherished his wife Robin, spoiling her and making her happy. They started with very little and over the years by working hard together, they slowly built a life they were proud of. They enjoyed every project together along the way. They were the old school kind of marriage and if wasn’t broken then it didn’t need fixing. When things got hard, they dug deeper and shared a love that was true, noble, honest and pure. He enjoyed early mornings more than anything, sitting in the swing enjoying his coffee. He always said this is the best part of the day watching the world around you wake up. He found beauty in everything he saw. He enjoyed a simple life and loved being surrounded by his family (esp. grandbabies) but he honestly enjoyed being with himself most of the time, and that says a lot about the kind of man he was. He prided himself on a good work ethic and being a dependable neighbor and friend.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Robin Jefferson Nix; daughters: Stephanie Hood and Karla West; sons in law: Kelly Hood and Craig West; grandchildren: Olivia Carruth (Will), Chandler West, and Madeline Hood; his twin brother and best friend Johnnie Nix (Pat); sisters: Linda Nix Richardson and Pam Nix McBride; father in law Carlos Jefferson Sr (Judy); Debbie and JD Myers, Rhonda and Mike Evans, Carlos “Jeff” and Donna Jefferson, Wendy And Jack Odom, Tab and Nikka Jefferson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and grandchildren by heart: Eli Drummond and Karsyn Hargett.
He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Ellen Myers Nix; brother Pete Nix and mother in law LaWassa Johnsey Jefferson.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of UAB 6th floor MICU for providing exceptional care and went above and beyond.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
