

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 1 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Charlie Brown will officiate.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne Studdard Love; daughter, Janna Laurie Love Henderson; parents, Lemmie C. Love and Vera Gladys Laird Love; brothers, James Andrew “Rudy” Love and Glenn Dolan Love.
He is survived by his loving nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Joe was born in Walker County in 1943 to a loving and widely loved family in Cordova. He graduated from Cordova High School and was active in many school organizations including varsity football. Upon graduation, Joe was off to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, returning to Walker College to be closer to his family in Cordova. Then he began his path by serving in the United States Army. Serving in South Korea as a Finance Non Commissioned Officer and rising to a rank of Enlisted Non Commissioned Officer E5 in less than two years of service. Joe married the love of his life Jayne, after returning from the military service. Upon receiving a Honorable Discharge Joe continued college at Jacksonville. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration and Business Management.
Joe enjoyed a successful time at White Out Door Advertising. He often told the story of selling the very first billboard for Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Joe and Jayne moved to Jasper while always keeping their family in Cordova on their minds. Janna Love their daughter was born while he was employed with Walker-Fayette Coal company Inc. Joe began a long successful dedication to the mine land reclamation and reformation. A Pioneer Reclamation Superintendent gave Joe an opportunity marked by many successful achievements in natural resources. Joe established a partnership with the University of Alabama graduating school of Biology. The Walker-Fayette Coal Company property became a research station under the direction of Dr. Earl Cross, Professor of Graduate Studies in Biology at the Tuscaloosa campus.
Joe received many awards for soil study projects on reclamation of coal mined land. He was an active member of the Walker County Soil and Water Conservation Committee. Always contributing his time and resources, Joe was a member and officer of the State of Alabama Soil And Water Conservation Board; Walker County Mental Health Board and received a special award given by Spain Regulation Hospital committee of 100 and the Lotus Award. Joe served as chairman of Operation Santa Clause for Brice Hospital and Partto Hospital. Joe served a four year term on the Walker County Commission and maintained a leadership position on many rural development boards, while traveling nationally to meetings in Washington D.C. Never slowing down, Joe worked as a senior consultant to several Alabama companies. He was Director for Fortunio, Untied Land Corporation and Jim Walter Resources. Joe enjoyed many years of cattle farming and being a member of the Walker County Cattleman Association, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Walker County Mental Health Jacksonville Alabama Associates. Joe was a long time member of Long Memorial Methodist Church. He will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Long Memorial Methodist Church of Cordova.
