Mrs. Margaret Darlene Tannehill

Margaret “Darlene” Tannehill, 68, of Carbon Hill, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. Visitation will be Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Carbon Hill Church of God in Carbon Hill. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the Carbon Hill Church of God, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper. Troy Tannehill and Bridget Tannehill will officiate. Darlene, also known as “the curly-headed preacher lady,” served as a licensed minister in the Church of God for over 20 years. During that time, she had the privilege to lead countless people to the Lord. Her love of family was superseded only by her love of God. When she wasn’t talking to her Heavenly Father, she was talking to friends, family and her dog, Bootsie. She was a wonderful person, and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Tannehill; and parents, Cecil H. Gillespie and Wandena E. Gillespie. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Tannehill; daughter, Traci Tannehill of West Virginia; sons, Glen Tannehill (Jennifer) of North Carolina and Troy Tannehill (Bridget) of Alabama; grandsons, Seth, Brandon and Dylan; family friend, Stephanie Kline; and a host of numerous nieces and nephews in Illinois, West Virginia and Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carbon Hill Church of God, P.O. Box 190, Carbon Hill, AL 35549.
