Laird, Thomas Donald, Sr., age 79, of Carbon Hill died Saturday, November 29, 2014. He was a member of Carbon Hill First United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army National Guard over 40 years, and worked in underground coal mines for 37 years. Visitation will be Monday, December 1, from 12 Noon until time of funeral at 2:00 P.M. at Kilgore Green Funeral Home in Jasper. Ron Gilbreath will officiate. Burial will be in Carbon Hill Memorial Gardens. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, POB 578, Carbon Hill, AL 35549. He is survived by his wife, Linda D. Laird; sons, Thomas Donald Laird, Jr., James Phillip Laird (Brenda), William Howard Laird; daughter, Donna L. Tompkins (Greg); stepson, Patrick Alan Webb (Deborah); 5 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; and sister, Edith Ann Crump.
