

Edith M. Buchanan, a long time resident of Pitt Gas, PA died Tuesday , the 22nd of November at Washington Hospital. The daughter of the late Edward and Lettonia Moore, she and her late husband Jesse, were blessed with 4 children; 3 daughters and a son. For 18 years she was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Houseparent at the Waynesburg, PA facility. She was also the recording secretary for AFSCME Retiree Chapter #8403,Waynesburg, PA.
Edith was a member of First Baptist Church, Clarksville, PA for over 50 years were she was the secretary and a teacher for the Missionary Circle. She was a member of the Trustee board, a Deaconess, Church Clerk, and a Treasurer of the church school. Edith had completed several courses sponsored by Congress of Christian Education. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star , Pride of The Valley Chapter #70 for 52 years where she served 2 terms as Worthy Matron.
Leading a full life, Edith was the treasurer of the Good Samaritan Club of the Clarksville area, United Mission of Area Churches, Treasurer of the Green County Senior Action Council, a Volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and worked on the Election Board, Jefferson #2, in Greene County. Edith loved to cook, crochet, enjoyed socializing with family and friends, volunteering in the community and she was a avid homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Beverly(Curtis), Florence, Vernon(Amanda), Brother James Moore, Sister Marcella Jones, Grandchildren Nicole, Tony and Bailee and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Jesse, Daughter, Audrey C. Cyrus, Sisters Thelma Culp, and Estella Culp.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25th from 4 pm to 8 pm at First Baptist Church, Pitt Gas. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 26th, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Pitt Gas.
