Elizabeth "Libby" Senegar

She was born November 19, 1922 in Dry Tavern, Jefferson Township, the daughter of the late Peter and Helen Krisa Dikun. Elizabeth was first in her family to graduate from Jefferson District High School in 1941. She left home to work in New York City at Western Union during the war years and several years after. She returned to Dry Tavern and then moved to Arkansas to marry Nick Senegar (deceased) of Dunbar in 1947. She remained in Hot Springs until 2018 when she moved into Independent Living in Monroeville.

In Hot Springs, Libby worked as a waitress at local restaurants and during the horse racing seasons for over 40 years. She was active with her church, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, participating in church activities with the Council of Women, notably the Morning Circle and for local charitable organizations, supplying school supplies, clothing, etc. She also enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends. But Libby’s greatest love was dancing and she hardly ever missed a weekend at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs. Until her death, if she wasn’t able to get up and dance, she was moving and grooving to the music.

Every year in July, Libby would make a trip back to her hometown in Dry Tavern, where she would catch up with her Mum, family members, and attend the Dikun Family Reunion.

Surviving are three siblings, Margaret Ferrari of Dry Tavern, George Dikun of Newfoundland, NJ and Charles Dikun of Dry Tavern; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are four sisters: Mary Gazy, Anna Hundrieser, Helen Maletta and Verna Dikun; four brothers, John Dikun, Michael Dikun, Andrew Dikun, and a brother in infancy, Charles Dikun.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12 noon in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor; where a Blessing service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 12 noon with Fr. J. Francis Frazer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Crucible.
