Frances Armstrong Murphy

She was born July 28, 1929 in Jefferson, a daughter of the late J. Lee “Tucker” and Harriet Bradbury Armstrong.

Mrs. Murphy was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School.

She was a homemaker and farmer. A member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, a former member of the Carmichaels Grange and the Clarksville Area Lions Club.

On August 28, 1947 she married Patrick H. Murphy, who died November 9, 1988.

Surviving are three children, Michael Murphy and his wife Audrey of Clarksville, Peg Simmons and her husband Robert of Jefferson, and Patty Martin and her husband Kenneth of Corry; 8 grandchildren, S. Scott (Brigitte) Simmons, Jason (Rachael) Simmons, Amy Ness, Robert P. (Tracy) Simmons, Joshua (Victoria) Martin, Jared (Danielle) Martin, Emily (Tommy) Jaggi, and Taylor Eddy; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Clara Vekas, of Youngstown, OH.

Deceased are six brothers, Seth, Bill, Guy, Glenn, Ralph, and Verna Armstrong; and a sister, Margaret “Peg” Fischer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, in the Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P.
