
He was born April 10, 1931 in Jefferson, a son of the late Michael and Barbara Strichko Kovach.
Mr. Kovach graduated from Cumberland Twp. High School and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion in Rices Landing and Jefferson, He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He had worked for Grumman, and the Knights Inn.
In July 1968 he married Donna Jean Irey, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, George Michael Kovach and his wife Terry Lynn of Jefferson, and Eugene Kovach and his wife Erin of Gilbertsville; a granddaughter, Kayla; and three grandsons, Hayden, Nathan, and Daniel; a brother, Victor Kovach of Rices Landing; a sister, Lizzy Krepkovich of Aurora, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four sisters, Julia Yesenosky, Mary Fahl, Helen Carmen, and Irene Kovach; and four brothers, Mike Kovach, Andy Kovach, John Kovach, and Alec Kovach.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.Wednesday in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 with Fr. John M. Bauer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Crucible.
