

He was born March 16, 1936, in Rices Landing, son of the late Harold A. (Hawkey) and Mildred Gideon Kline.
Mr. Kline graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954, earned a Bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University in 1959, and a Master’s degree from American University in 1968.
He was a teacher and vice principal at George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia from 1959 to 1969. He then taught industrial arts in the Jefferson Morgan High School for 23 years until his retirement in 1993.
Mr. Kline spent his life serving his community. He was a life member of the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department serving as chief from 1979 to 2005. He was a member of the Greene County Firemen’s Association, the Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association, and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chief’s and Assistant Chief’s Association.
He was one of the first EMT’s in the state of Pennsylvania and was a long-time EMT instructor. Mr. Kline was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He served as Scout Master and Committee Chairman of the Rices Landing Boy Scouts Troop 1168. He was the General Greene District Committee Chairman and awarded the Silver Beaver for his volunteer service. Mr. Kline served many years and held various positions on the Rices Landing Borough Council. He was former President and a founding member of Rices Landing Dry Tavern Civic Organization for Community Outgrowth (COCO) as well as a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club. He was a former member, deacon, and elder of the Hewitt’s Presbyterian Church in Rices Landing and a current member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg.
Mr. Kline married Norma Jean Gabler, who survives, on June 3, 1959. Also surviving are two sons, Brad Kline and his wife, Janette, of Rices Landing and Bruce Kline and his wife, Beth, of Elkton, Maryland; six grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alex, Katherine, Ethan, Erin, and Julianna; and a sister, Joan Miller Boone of Lancaster, New York.
A gathering of friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Pennsylvania 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, 169 West College Street, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania 15370 with the Rev. William Sukolsky officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery in Rices Landing. The Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department will hold a memorial service on Saturday, May 21, at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department or the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg.
