Judy Murphy Shaffer

She was born July 1, 1942 in Mather, a daughter of the late Patrick H. and Agnes B. Connor Murphy.

Judy was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson High School.

She worked in hospitality and cooking all her career from working at the Twins Angels Restaurant, Dolfi’s Restaurant, the Greene Country Club, the Jefferson-Morgan School District, Lavern’s Restaurant and retired from SCI Waynesburg.

Judy was a member of the Jefferson Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #954, Jefferson, the Society of Red Hats, and AFSCME Local #13.

On May 2, 1961 she married Leroy Dale Shaffer Sr., who died August 21, 2005.

Surviving are two sons, Leroy Dale Shaffer Jr. of Harpers Ferry, WV, and John P. (Sara) Shaffer of Carmichaels; five grandchildren, Tyler, Corey, Emma Patrick and Mary; a brother, George (Nancy) Murphy of Waynesburg; a significant person in her life, Stasha Ray of Rices Landing.

Deceased are a significant person in her life, Joann Kelly Ray; six brothers, Patrick H. Murphy Jr., James Murphy, John Murphy, twins William Murphy and Charles Murphy, and Richard Murphy; two sisters, Kathryn Gordon and Gwen Peyton.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. Private interment will be held at a later date.
