

He was born January 28, 1928 in California, PA, a son of the late Leslie and Gertrude Gillen Smith.
Lloyd served in the United States Navy during WW II.
He had worked as a coal miner at Vesta #4, and then as a Federal Mine Inspector with the Bureau of Mines, before retiring.
Lloyd was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post # 4793, Waynesburg.
On February 26, 1949 he married Betty A. Fencil, who died February 24, 1998.
On May 12, 2001 he married Charlotte Virgili Smith, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Charlotte, are a step-son, Fred Virgili and his wife Jenny of Mather; a step-granddaughter, Aleeah Virgili; 2 grandchildren, James Lloyd Smith of Carmichaels, and Amanda Hartung of New Hampshire; a great grandson, Samuel Hartung.
Deceased in addition to his first wife, Betty are a son, James L. Smith; a granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; two sisters, Marilyn Neugebauer and Marie Banasik
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson.
