

He was born in Wilmore, PA (Cambria County) on January 2, 1945 to the late Merle and Edith Martin Engle.
He was formerly married to Elisa Wilson Layhue of Bentleyville on April 17, 1966.
He is survived by his companion, Sandra Rankin of Elizabethtown, KY; a son: Kevin Engle (Ashley) of Lawrenceburg, KY; two daughters: Rene Engle Shatto (Jeff) of Parkesburg, PA, and Betsy Engle also of Elizabethtown, KY; several grandchildren; two brothers: Darwin Engle (Barbara) of Leonardtown, MD, Martin Engle (Carol) of Ruff Creek, PA; and a sister: Karen Pruess (William) of Annandale, VA.
Diz grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania where he resided until his retirement six years ago. At which time, he relocated to Elizabethtown, KY.
He was a 1963 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School. Following graduation, he served four years in the navy, touring on the USS Chukawan. He was employed as a machinist most of his life and worked at Millcraft, Atlas Machine, Bethlehem Mines/Beth Energy, and Joy Manufacturing.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, cooking and retirement. He was a faithful friend and would generously help others with fixing equipment and machinery as well as having friends over to his home to visit.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. James Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Navy.
