

He was born August 17, 1932 in Jefferson, a son of the late Charles and Frances Tennant Filbey.
Mr. Filbey had served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson.
He was a well-known thoroughbred horse trainer having worked at Wheeling Downs, Waterford, Commodore Downs and Mountaineer Racetrack.
On June 27, 1955 he married Margaret E. Mitchell, who died August 5, 1997.
Surviving are two children, Richard L. Filbey of Jefferson and Janet L. McMillen and her husband Jack of Crucible; three grandchildren, Brad Lawrence, Ben McMillen and Amanda Baxendell; five great grandchildren, Danni McMillen, Hanna McMillen, Brett Simpson, Damyn Crick and Acie Lawrence; three brothers, Robert Filbey and his wife Shelia of Jefferson, Gary Filbey and his wife Cathy of Jefferson, and Allan Filbey of Jefferson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc.1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. Inurnment will be in Smith Cemetery, Waynesburg at a later date. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson.
