

He was born June 16, 1953 in Waynesburg, a son of the late William and Nancy Stauffer Rex.
Joe was a 1972 graduate of Carmichaels High School.
He was a retired coal miner from Maple Creek Coal Mine; and had also worked at one time as a bus driver for the Jefferson-Morgan School District and McNally Bus Company.
Mr. Rex was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Company.
He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter; and enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandsons.
On June 28, 1975 he married Darlene Joyce Sabo, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dale Rex and his wife Stacey of Gastonia, NC and a daughter, Tammie Rex Wofford and her husband Jim of Mt. Holly, NC; four grandsons, Dylan Rex, Dalton Rex, Drew Wofford and Ryan Wofford; a brother, Kenneth Rex and his wife Cindy of Rices Landing; two sisters, Thelma McCartney and her husband John of Jefferson, and Robin Grimm of Blairsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, James D. Rex Sr.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 in the Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. Where services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Raymond Johns officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
