Angelo Palmieri, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 7, 2025. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, strength, and dedication to those he held dear. He was 85 and blessed with a life full of good health.
Born and raised in northern New Jersey, Angelo served his hometown of Bloomfield as a police officer, sergeant, and lieutenant for 29 years. In 1988, he retired and moved his family to Florida, where he built a life centered on family, tradition, and love in Jensen Beach.
Angelo found happiness with simple pleasures in Florida—hosting family dinners, suntanning, and fishing. You could always find Angelo in the shadows at the ball fields and auditoriums watching his grandchildren with pride. He will be remembered for spectacular fireworks shows, Christmas Eve, and barbequing poolside. All dinners were filled with laughter, food, sarcasm, and love. Angelo was a talented artist and poet; and his artwork – from wood carvings to stained glass windows to intricate model train displays - delighted loved ones. He was also known to pull a prank on his grandchildren, hide a golden egg, or entertain the family with skits, songs, and games.
After 52 years of marriage, a piece of Angelo’s heart died when his beloved wife, Judith, passed away in 2014. As a longtime admirer of The Old Man and the Sea, he seemed drawn to Hemingway’s words: "The hardest lesson I have had to learn as an adult is the relentless need to keep going, no matter how broken I feel inside." In Judith’s absence, Angelo’s legacy of love and his relentlessness to keep going, will live in the hearts of all who loved him.
Family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent together. He is survived by his sons, Angelo II, who is married to Susan, and Anthony, who is married to Lynn. Both of Angelo’s sons live locally. He was a proud grandfather to Christine (Dan), Angelica (Anthony), Angelo III, Hunter, and Zane and great-grandfather to Luca, Logan, Mason, and Gianna; all local.
After a Catholic Memorial Mass, he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at All Saints Cemetery in Jensen Beach. A celebration honoring Angelo’s life and legacy will be planned in the coming weeks.
