Charles “Ed” McComas of Palm City, Florida, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 70. A passionate metallurgist, inventor, and devoted family man, Ed lived a life defined by curiosity and an enduring love for those closest to him.
Ed’s professional journey was one of remarkable vision and innovation. He founded Universal Chemical Technologies Global Holdings GmbH in 2008, later serving as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of B4C Technologies Inc. in 2010, leaving a lasting mark on the field of advanced materials. To those who knew him, Ed was an inventor at heart who approached every challenge with ingenuity and an unwavering belief in what was possible.
Yet for all his professional accomplishments, Ed’s greatest pride was his family. Born to Charles “Chuck” McComas and Susan Dunthorn, and lovingly raised by Antonia “Toni” McComas, he carried that strong foundation throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen McComas; his daughter, Tara Kemppainen, her husband Dana, and their children Max and Madeline; his son, Charles Edward McComas II, his wife Callie, and their children Vera, Jaxson, and CJ; and his brothers, Doug, Scott, and Jerry McComas, along with a wide circle of extended family and cherished friends.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
