Fran was born in Brooklyn. She lived in Northport, Lanesboro, MA, Oakdale and Sayville before moving to Jensen Beach, FL.
She married the love of her life, Edward Rodgers. Together, they built a life, family and career on Long Island. It is here that they put each other through four years of College following their years in education at the North Babylon School District.
Their urge to do more and play harder brought them to their 10 acres in the Berkshires. Together our family and friends helped to build our log cabin. It was there that they hosted and entertained regularly.
Fran was a volunteer for many years helping women who suffered from domestic violence. She also loved tutoring young children seeking extra help so they could reach their full potential. She loved learning new things so she continued with her own education as a retiree just for the sake of learning. She was a plethora of information..
Fran’s curiosity and joy for life took her to places far and wide. Her love for adventure and interest in exploring made her a world traveler. She explored each new continent with her retired friends. Some of her adventures included climbing the pyramids in Egypt, participating in a CSI investigation in Las Vegas, going to a cowboy dude ranch in Montana. She visited Thailand, Morocco, China and once even found herself shopping in a Tahiti jewelry store with Rachel Welch. This was in addition to all the other stamps on her passport.
Following her retirement, she poured her creative energy into gardening, knitting, crocheting, jewelry-making and beading. She delighted in crafting and repairing beautiful pieces for her friends. She was always ready to lend a hand to her favorite jeweler, "RD", ready to run whenever the call came in.
Fran’s spirit was one of caring, helping others, independence, love and curiosity. She lived life to the fullest and always on her own terms. Those who knew her will remember her mild manner, her always being happy, and her passion for her flowers.
She would want us to celebrate her long remarkable time on earth with stories, laughter, and loving memories. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her and shared her love.
It is with a great deal of love, appreciation and gratitude that we thank Mary, for always protecting, supporting and loving mom.
A special shout out to the Grand Oaks Assisted Living team for always caring for Mom with such love, and compassion.
Also, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Hospice Nurses for their comfort and support during this time of transitioning.
