On August 21, 1971 she was united in marriage to George Roy. They were married 48 years. In 1974 they moved to Jensen Beach. Irene worked as a RN nurse for 33 years at Martin Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her husband George Roy of Jensen Beach; four children, Adrienne (Hal) Avallone of Palm Beach Gardens, Jeffrey Roy of Jacksonville, Jennifer (David) Masiwchuk of Stuart, and Timothy Roy of Jensen Beach; six grandchildren, Brandon Roy, Donovan Roy, Dominick Avallone, Douglas Avallone, Katie Roy, and Isabella Avallone; great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Hickey of North Conway, NH; and Joan Soule of Boston, MA.
