

John was born in Bolton, England, migrating to Florida from Harbor Springs and Farmington Hills, MI, and lived in Hutchinson Island and Stuart, FL for many years.
Prior to retirement John was an Engineer and worked for MVMA Engineering Research Department. He negotiated and monitored the extensive safety and environmental research program of MVMA. He worked as an administrator involved in research into motor vehicle collisions, biomechanics, air pollution, noise, vehicle handling, tires and lighting. He was an active member of the Traffic Records Committee of National Safety Council and several committees of the American Association of Automotive Medicine. He also served in the Air Force as a contracting officer for US Defense and NATO nation’s activities. He was a military pilot during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.
John was an avid tennis player at Island Dunes and loved his life at the beach.
Survivors include beloved wife Anna Lou Scowcroft, daughter Dorothy Scowcroft, step-daughters Lisa Verhil, Teri Bernstein and Janie McClure, six grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 9, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00PM and on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10:30 to 11:00 with a service at 11:00 at Aycock Funeral Home in Jensen Beach, FL. Entombment to follow service at All Saints Cemetery in Jensen Beach, FL.
