Joseph "Joe" F Carroll

Joseph Francis Carroll 72 of Jensen Beach, FL passed away July 18, 2016 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, FL. Joe moved to Florida in the 1990’s after retiring as Deputy Superintendent from the Massachusetts Dept. of Corrections. He was a long time active member and past Governor of the Jensen Beach Moose and past Chaplain of the Cass County Elks in Missouri.

Joe spent many years working on various marine engines and had a reputation as being a very knowledgeable and honest marine mechanic. He spent many days out on the open ocean doing what he loved best…..fishing.

Joe was also a mentor to many young people, sharing his love of boating and instilling in them a healthy respect for the ocean.

He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him as a “good man” and a “gentle giant”.

He is survived by his wife Caroline of Jensen Beach, FL, son Chris Doherty and wife Trish of California, brother Robert Carroll of Woburn, MA, and sister Janet McLaughlin and husband David of Ft Pierce, FL. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Emma and Evan Doherty and many nieces and nephew.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 12-1 with a service at 1 pm at Aycock Funeral Home in Jensen Beach, FL. A celebration of life will be held at the Jensen Beach Moose following the service.
