Joyce D. Slavsky

She was born to Stanley and Lillian Dyckes in Miami, Florida on December 27, 1934. She attended Miss Harris School for Girls with her sister, Shirley, and then went to St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She met John R. Slavsky Jr. on a blind date in 1956 in Detroit while home with a college friend. They were married six months later November 24,1956 in Miami, Florida. They raised their family in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, consisting of four children: Jay, Stanley, Stephanie and Susan.They were married for 65 years and were are true love story. They were inseparable!

She loved playing golf, tennis and in her younger days she could be found waterskiing on Cass Lake with John driving the boat and four young children cheering her on. She enjoyed boating and cruising the waterways of Michigan and Florida. She went to St. Mary's College where she was blessed to make life long friendships with many Detroit girls.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 65 years, John; children, Jay (Carol) Slavsky of Petoskey, MI and Palm City, FL, Stephanie (Mike) Sommers of Plover ,WI, Susie (Tom) McHugh of Fishers, IN, daughter in law Fern of Bloomfield, MI; grandchildren, Shannon (Joe), Josie (Al), Christine, Joseph, Tim and Annie; great grandsons, Manny and Valley; and her sister, Shirley Kelley of Stuart. She also leaves behind many loved ones of the Slavsky/Dawson family as well as her beloved sister-in-law and nieces in Coral Springs. FL. Joyce was predeceased by her parents and her son, Stanley.

You may find her Spirit walking the beach of Lake Huron at Camp Joy where she spent special times with her grandchildren.
