Laurene M. Compton (Babe) 85 of Jensen Beach, FL formerly of Wheaton, IL passed away on Friday October 7, 2022 at The Cabanas at Jensen Dunes. She was born November 9, 1936 in Chicago IL, the daughter of Theodore and Jean (Bates) Tolbert. Babe moved to Martin County in 1984 to enjoy the warm climate and friendly atmosphere that Florida offers. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and all sorts of socializing with family and friends.
Laurene was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Jerry Compton her daughter Lauren Nitch, and grandson Kevin Compton.
Survivors include Diane (Larry) Miller of Powhatan, VA, Gregory (Brandy) Compton of Las Vegas, NV, Jerome (Angela) Compton of Jensen Beach, FL and Matt Nitch of Chesterfield, VA.; 6 grandchildren 4 great-grandchildren, and many loving lifelong friends.
Services will be private at a later scheduled date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org/donate)
