Lorenzo Maiucci

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Giovenina Maiucci; son, Giancarlo Maiucci and his wife, Linda Manzi Maiucci, of Jensen Beach; two grandchildren, Randy Maiucci and Julian Maiucci; one great-grandchild, Lorenzo Maiucci; and a nephew, John Emil Maiucci. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and in Italy.

His life was long and he experienced every possible blessing. Parents who loved him, two older brothers, Attilio (1926-1993) and Enrico (1924-1996), who adored him, and family who loved and respected him.

He was possessed for immense courage. During World War II, together with his brother, Attilio, he disrupted Nazi telephone communication lines as the allied advance passed through Monefiascone in the spring of 1944.

After the end of World War II, he spent the first part of his life in Italy, where, together with his father and brother, Attilio, he worked in the family agricultural, win and oil business. He was a avid hunter and participated in local politics.

In 1980, together with his wife and immediate family he moved to the United States, residing in Jensen Beach. He was a successful landscaper and an avid fisherman.

It is always difficult to distill, into a few words, such a long, varied and productive life.

Therefore, it may be best to let words that Lorenzo once wrote in a letter to his older brother, Enrico, who had moved to the United States several months before, in the Fall of 1947, describe the kind of person he was. In the far away place and in that long ago time he wrote:

“Remember that you can always come home. This house is always open to you and we wait with open arms.”

His arms were always open to everyone and that is what his family and friends shall miss most of all and shall remember most about him.
