

Born in Jamaica, New York, Mr. Collins had previously lived in Fort Lauderdale before relocating to the Stuart area 42 years ago and settling in Jensen Beach.
He was a builder/developer for 50 years, having built several prominent Stuart buildings; he was instrumental in building Redeemer Lutheran School. Mr. Collins was a member of the Exchange and Rotary Clubs in Stuart, and was on the advisory board of 1st National Bank.
He was also the past President of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America and a member of the “5 Gallon Club” in honor of his son, Neil Kevin who passed away from Leukemia.
Mr. Collins was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a previous member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Along with his wife, he participated in Crucio Goldcoast #12.
Mr. Collins was a retired reservist for the United States Coast Guard and was an avid power boat racer both offshore and circle racing super stocks.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Thelma M. Collins of Jensen Beach, FL; daughter, Terri (Samuel) Steinhauer of Stuart, FL; daughter, Kriste (Bob) Ashley of Fort Pierce, FL; son, Lance (Jennifer) Collins of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Sean (Stephanie) Collins of California; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Stuart, FL.
