

Roger was born on July 30, 1940, in Van Wert, OH to the late Charles A. Welker, and Luella (Kreischer) Welker. Roger was a graduate of Van Wert High School in Van Wert, OH and he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly after graduation. Following a medical discharge, he married Karen McClure of Ohio City, OH on July 11,1959.
Roger and Karen started their married life in Jensen Beach, Florida where they raised their three children. Roger was hard-working and dedicated to providing a good life for his family. He worked in the grocery industry for over 43 years and retired from Flowers Foods as a district manager in South Florida. He also believed in giving back to his community. He was a member of the Optimist Club of Jensen Beach and supported their mission of "Bringing Out the Best in Kids” by coaching youth baseball.
Upon retiring, Roger and Karen fulfilled their dream of living in the foothills of northern Georgia. During his retirement years, he enjoyed wood working and was a regular at the local craft fairs. He was also a life long fan of the Miami Dolphins and enjoyed going to games with his sons.
Along with his wife Karen, Roger is survived by his sister, Shirley Teusch of Huntington, IN; one daughter, Kim Marie Ford (Wade) of Plano, TX; two sons, Roger Lee Welker, Jr (Nancy) of Jensen Beach, FL, Kevin Duane Welker (Estrella) of Cabo San Lucas, MX; 5 grandchildren, Lora Fabyan (Stephen), Corbin Welker, Shelby Ford, Zachary Ford, Kyle Ford (Amy); and 2 great-grandchildren, Savannah Fabyan and Austin Fabyan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard E. Welker.
Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Jensen Beach, Florida.
A celebration of life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the The Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House at 1401 NE Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach, FL. Please join us as we share memories and a meal in Roger’s honor.
