Jose Leon, Jr., age 43, of Unicoi, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Lawrence, New York. Mr. Leon was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of Jose Luz Leon and Elvira Valdez. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Juan and Evelia Valdez; paternal grandparents, Primitivo Leon and Virginia Barraso; stepmother, Jovita Leon; God Mother, Pilar Leon; and several cousins.
Jose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was the Owner and Operator of JL Hauling LLC. He loved driving his truck, watching baseball, was an avid Ohio State Football fan, and working on cars. In his younger years, Jose was a DJ and loved music.
He is survived by his father, Jose Luz Leon; mother and stepfather, Elvira Valdez and Bartolo Martinez; wife, Damaris Cruz; two sons, Mason Leon and Joseph Leon; three brothers, Kevin Martinez, Christian Leon and Jose Leon; one sister, Laura Leon; one stepbrother, Josue Olmeto; and several other extended family members.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jesus Guerrero officiating. Committal Service and Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Garden at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kevin Martinez, Mason Leon, Christian Leon, Rolando Valdez, Miguel Lopez, Bryan Garcia, Jon Michael Lopez, and Jesus Huerta.
