Penny Anita Higgins, age 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 30, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and by the Grace of God.
Penny was a devoted follower of Christ and a faithful servant to the Lord. She always made others aware of her faith and her relationship with the Lord.
She was born on January 15th, 1956, and was a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, where she was a Purchasing Agent of many years and retired from Snowden's Roofing in 2019.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda Miller and Frank Haney; her brothers, Ricky and Dwight Haney.
She is survived by her husband, Michael B Higgins; her son, Lynn Madden and wife Karen; her daughter, Jennifer Head and husband David; her son, Mote Higgins and wife Rachel; her daughter, Stephanie Higgins; her sisters, Ruth Ann MacGeorge and husband Woody, Pamela Reed and her late husband Gary Reed; her brother, Robbie Miller and wife Kim; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Monte Vista Funeral Home, 1900 E. Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601, US, on May 5, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location on May 5, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
A Graveside Committal will take place at Monte Vista Funeral Home, 1900 E. Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601, US, on May 6, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
