

Compton Harold George Compton, age 80, born February 4, 1935 in Sunbury, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 23, 2015 at Grant Hospital, Harold is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Vivian Andersen Compton; beloved father of Marion (Rick) Green, Harold Jr. (Darlene), Edward (Naomi), John (Paula) and Robert (Jeanette); 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Taylor and Nanny Pearle Compton, sisters Doris Tiberi and Shirley Conway. Harold worked many years in the lumber business at Dealers Lumber and Linden Lumber in Columbus. He was the founder of Compton Construction Company and co-owner of Johnstown Skate and Swim with his wife. They also own and operate Village View Golf Course in Croton, Ohio. A country boy at heart, Harold lived in New Albany and then moved to Croton to raise his family. He was ornery and loved to tease and joke, bringing laughter and love to all. He was a tender hearted and loving man who enjoyed golf, sports, farming, horse racing, and especially his family and many, many friends. Friends may call at the CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME in Johnstown on Friday, February 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral service will be officiated by Dan McLaughlin on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hartford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, PO Box 921, Wilton, NH 03086-0921 in his memory.
