

Joan Irene Laurenzo, 88, of Johnstown, Ohio and Inverness, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Inverness at the Hospice House of Florida surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born August 6, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Daniel and Irene (nee Myers) Nunley.
Joan attended both Olivet Nazarene University and The Ohio State University, where she was an Organ Performance Major. She retired after many hard-working years as the school secretary from Northside Christian School in Westerville, Ohio, where the students affectionately called her “Mama L”. Joan was a longtime member of Westerville Bible Church; and later in life, she became an active and faithful member of both the Johnstown Independent Baptist Church and the Fort Cooper Baptist Church in Inverness.
Joan was known for her giving and loving spirit and was truly a friend to all she met. Her happy place was her kitchen, always preparing a delicious meal complete with tasty baked goods. If she wasn’t in the kitchen, she was out tending to her beautiful flower gardens.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, David Alan Laurenzo; daughter Brenda (Daniel) Riley; four grandchildren, Kendall, Katherine, Jandy, and Brooklyn; and a host of other, family, friends, and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Johnstown Independent Baptist Church 7397 Johnstown Alexandria Rd. Johnstown, Ohio 43031, with Rev. Dan Scarberry officiating. The family will welcome family and friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning. A graveside service is to immediately follow at Concord Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating.
