Larry Wilson Gaines, 81, of Howard, Ohio passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 6, 2021. He was born March 27, 1939 in Adelphi, Ohio to the late Perry and Hazel (Arledge) Gaines. Larry proudly served in the Army National Guard where he received an honorable discharge. He was a hardworking man, he drove truck for Schneider Trucking, managed Aatco Transmission for 15 years, and retired after 27 years of managing the auto center at Sears-Roebuck. Larry was a man of many passions including auto mechanics, coin collecting, the great outdoors, and traveling. He truly loved his family, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Goldie (Kuhn) Gaines; children, Michele (Wilian) Villeda and Marcie (Donald) Plott; step-children, Mona (Robert) Reed and Kermit Richmond; grandchildren, Casey Reed, Ashley Watts, Brandon LaMuth, Abigale McDaniel, Trinity Plott, and Wilian Villeda Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Bella and Elliott; siblings, June (Paul) Truman and Linda McDowell; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Beth Ann Gaines, grandchild Larry C.F. Villeda, and siblings, Roberta, Margie, Doris Ann, and Perry Jr. Family and friends may call from 10am-12pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, Ohio 43031. The funeral service will begin at 12pm, with Pastor Dan McLaughlin officiating. Following the funeral service there will be a procession to Greenhill Cemetery for a committal service.
