Ralph Thomas Downey, 89, of Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1925 in Columbus, OH, a son to the late Robert and Clara (Sells) Downey. Ralph was a member at Church of the Ascension and the Knights of Columbus Council 4324. He also was a U.S. Army Veteran. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Jane; children, Mary Margaret (James) Hall, Tom (Betty) and Denise (Sam) Sherrod; grandchildren, Janie Hall, Judy (Mike) Sies, Chad (Melissa), Mike (Samantha), Brian Sherrod and Megan Sherrod; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Church of the Ascension, 555 S. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031 with Father J.L. Reichert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, OH 43055, in Ralph’s memory.
