Thelma Keller Chalfant, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to see her Savior Jesus on February 2, 2026, after three months of fighting illness. Thelma, age 86, was born in Port Homer, Ohio on August 8, 1939. Her parents were Earl M and Elizabeth Goray Keller.
Thelma is preceded in passing by her parents; sisters, Elaine and Richard Westlake, Charlotte and Dennis Yocum; and brother, Robert Keller. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 50 years of marriage, Ellis Chalfant; daughter, Cynthia Warner; son, Glenn Taylor; grandchildren, Brayden (Jessica) Warner, Sophia (Charles) Hathaway, Noah Warner, Mary Katherine Taylor, Sarah Taylor, and Samuel Taylor; great-grandchildren, Miles Warner, Malachi Warner, and Archer Hathaway.
Thelma graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1957. She retired from Big Bear Stores after 20 years of service. Thelma was a member of New Covenant Community Church in Johnstown, and taught Sunday School there for several years.
Thelma loved her flowers both inside and outside. She loved her Ohio State Buckeyes and would always send a group family text that said “O-H!” before every game. Thelma fiercely loved her family and cried tears of joy meeting her first great-grandchild.
We rejoice that she is no longer in pain and is reunited with family that went to Heaven before her. We rejoice that she is in the arms of her Savior.
