Lamar was born at Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital in the fall of 1957 to his late father, Warner Buford Garmon and late mother Clara McIntyre.
Lamar was a chef who loved cooking for others. His passions included building and flying model airplanes, animals, listening to music, telling stories, and taking things apart and putting them back together. Lamar was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons and Braves, as well as UGA and Ga. Tech football. He was blessed with a wonderful memory, and an encyclopedic knowledge of American History. Lamar was a positive person who loved to sing. and like his mother, he could break into song when the spirit moved him.
Lamar has a predeceased sister, Jean Hughes and is survived by two sisters: Wynema Harvey, of Monroe GA, and Naresia Pauly of Atlanta and two nieces Sasha Moore and Emily Pertschy.
A graveside gathering will take place on Friday February 13, 2026 at 11:00AM at The Sherwood Memorial Cemetery in Jonesboro, GA
