

He is survived by his two daughters and their spouses, Lisa (Kraig) Wheeler, Stephanie (Paul) Hatcher. He was also a proud grandfather of Brandon Benschoter and Alexandra Hatcher & brother to Jeanne Boone and Brian Tappen.
Cliff was born in Oceanside, New York on September 21st, 1944 to LT. Colonel Alfred A. Tappen and Lillian Tappen. He graduated from West Texas State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Cliff went on to serve as a Private E-1 Specialty Interrogator in The United States Army from August 1st, 1968 to May 2nd, 1971. During his service, he received the Vietnamese Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharp-shooter M-14 badge and Expert sharp-shooter M-14 badge.
Cliff retired from many years of retail sales and spent most of his time with family. He loved family hikes in the mountains, his two kitties Smoky and Kee-Kee, he was an avid collector and a huge animal rights supporter. He contributed generously to the ASPCA and St. Jude Children's hospital.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23rd at Tara Garden Chapel – 681 North Avenue – Jonesboro, GA 30236 with Pastor David Riley will officiating
The family is receiving flowers and condolences may be offered at the funeral home.
