Mr. Harvey A. Jones was born February 6, 1924. Mr. Jones passed away on December 16, 2015 at the age of 91. Mr. Jones was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Harvey started building race cars in 1945, winning many National Awards until he retired in 1973. Harvey was noted as having more winning engines from 1954-1973 than any other builder in the United States. Although Harvey stopped building motors in 1973, he continued to work 6 days a week until he turned 91 in early 2015. He is survived by his wife Gail Gwynn; daughters, Lisa Waldrop (David) of McDonough, GA and Michelle Kelley (David) of McDonough, GA; grandchildren: Alisha Waldrop, Savannah Waldrop, Davin Waldrop, Branden Southern, Ryan Southern, Cameron Southern, and Justin Southern; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Tara Garden Chapel in Jonesboro, GA. Funeral Services will be Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Tara Garden Chapel in Jonesboro GA. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Forest Park, GA.
