Alexander Christian (“Al”) Stark Jr., age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Al lived a life defined by integrity, service, and love.
Born on September 26, 1932, Al was raised in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University, where he studied electrical engineering and played football. He went on to serve as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, an experience that shaped his lifelong values of discipline, leadership, and perseverance.
Al had a distinguished four-decade career at AT&T that included executive leadership roles in engineering, operations, and international strategy. He rose to the position of Senior Vice President and later served as President of a pioneering joint venture between AT&T and Philips N.V., helping expand global communications infrastructure during a transformative period for the industry. Following his retirement, he founded AdCon, a consulting firm serving the global telecom sector.
A longtime resident of Jupiter, Florida, Al was a founding member and the first President of The Club at Admirals Cove, where he helped shape the community’s early vision and values. He also served as a Commodore of the Admirals Cove Yacht Club.
Al’s greatest pride, however, was his family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothea “Peggy” Stark, and by his son, Jeffrey Stark. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Stark; his daughter, Sally Stark Dean; his grandchildren, Molly Stark Dean, Jonathan Scott Dean and Shannon Alexandra Severance and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Luke Severance. To them, he was simply “Papa” — a source of unconditional love, wisdom, and laughter (and some unforgettable Christmas pants).
Al left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his boundless kindness, strength of character, sharp mind, and generous heart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Al’s honor to Rutgers University Foundation,
335 George Street, Suite 4000, New Brunswick, NJ 0890.
