Arthur Maynard Schwabe Sr. Passed away peacefully on June 14th 2025 at the Jupiter hospital Medical Center Jupiter, Florida; he was 92 years old. Most recently a resident of Mangrove Bay Senior Living in Jupiter after residencies of 35 years in Frenchmen’s Creek Palm Beach Gardens, and 37 years in Greenwich CT.
Arthur was born on February 26th 1933 in NYC. He was the third of four children. His Parents were Herman and Amalia Schwabe. His family left NYC in the late 1930’s settling in Yonkers NY, where they were long term residents.
Arthur graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers in 1951. In the fall of 1951, he enrolled in New York University and was drafted by the US Army within 2 weeks of the start of his first semester. He opted to enlist in the Navy where he served on the aircraft carrier Tarawa for a 2-year tour of duty during the Korean War. He completed his deployment, and returned to the US in 1953 with an honorable discharge.
After discharge Arthur enrolled in the apprentice training program for Electricians in Westchester County NY. Upon reaching Journeyman status he worked as a licensed Electrician before joining West fair Electric Contractors Hawthorne NY where he managed commercial construction projects in Westchester, and Fairfield Counties.
One of the benefits of his career choice included meeting his wife of 64 years Jean Francis DeLillo. Jean worked as an administrative assistant for Martin Electric the same firm Arthur was employed by. Ironically, they lived about 500 feet from one another in Yonkers for about 15 years, and never met prior to meeting at work.
Arthur had many hobbies and interests; He was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams comprising the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and NY Knicks. He loved all levels of sports including high school, college, and the professional levels. He never missed one of his children or grandchildren’s games. You could even find him at a Greenwich high School football game years after his Grandson’s graduated. Arthur retired from commercial construction at age 56. He then went on to trading his own portfolio of accounts as well as purchasing, renovating, and reselling homes. He was an avid fisherman, Gardener, Golfer, and a huge dog lover.
Arthur was a family first guy who was happiest when surrounded by his wife, Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, extended Family, and friends. He enjoyed nothing more than the Holiday’s or just hanging around the Sunday backyard barbecue. His oldest living friend of 75 years recently described him as your typical average ordinary American. “Just a regular Guy” you could always count on.
Arthur is Survived By his wife of 64 years Jean Francis DeLillo, his 3 children, sons Paul, Arthur Jr, and daughter Karin. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Jillian, Paul Jr, Nicholas, Jennifer, and Lauren as well as 2 great Grandchildren Delilah, and Scarlett.
