Barbara Jeane Falls

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on March 10, 1931 in Detroit Michigan, was the eldest of 5 children, and known as Jeane to her family. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas in Barbara’s senior year of high school. Her family later returned to Michigan, but Jeane decided to stay on in Fort Worth, where she enjoyed working at an Oldsmobile dealership. Barbara met her husband in 1951 going up the steps of an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Barbara was wearing silly mismatched clothing for the Sadie Hawkins dance, but Paul dressed to impress in a suit with cuffed slacks and he really caught her eye; our father loved to be stylish all of his life. They danced all night that day, and were married 3 years later in April 23,1954. Their wedding reception was held at the home of Gordon and Sarah Harriman (Sarah was the sister of Valerie Hogan). Paul was Assistant Golf Pro at River Crest Country Club from 1951-1955 where he met his idol, Ben Hogan, who was a member. Barbara and Paul named their eldest daughter Valerie, after Valerie Hogan.

Barbara and Paul worked side-by-side for 30 years in their golf pro shops since 1969; Paul, a teaching PGA Golf Professional and Barbara, the Shop Manager. They later enjoyed their winters at St. Andrews Golf Club in Delray Beach, Florida, and their summer Pro Shop at Quaker Hill Country Club in Pawling, New York for 20 years. Barbara and Paul always looked forward to their annual buying trips to New York City, to meet with many buyers. Barbara carefully chose golf and cocktail apparel, and accessories for their members, especially the women.

Aside from working in the pro shops, Barbara loved swimming laps at her condominium pool, tending to her beautiful pink and white impatiens, and playing bridge at the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach. Barbara & Paul were avid fans of many sports - PGA golf championships, especially the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club; were Atlanta Braves fans since the 1980’s; and enjoyed watching & rooting for the Dallas Cowboys. They also looked forward to watching the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont together each year. Over the years, they both loved spending time with their grandchildren. Mom was especially proud when her only great granddaughter, Dallas was born in 2016.

Barbara enjoyed their condo in Boynton Beach, Florida for over 40 years. She moved to Dominion Senior Living in Clemson, SC in October of 2019, to be near her daughter, Gwenda and her family.

She is survived by her 4 daughters, Valerie (Ken) Merkel, Gwenda (Randy) Muchow, Monica (Lincoln) Ramdath and Marcia (Steve) McTyre; 7 grandchildren, Natalie Bruce, Jennifer Merkel, Katherine Merkel

Megan McTyre, Nichols Muchow, Sean McTyre and Aimee Muchow; one great-granddaughter, Dallas; a brother, Roy (Eleanor) DuPraw and three sisters, Ann Schatzle, Judy Ockun and Christine (Mike) Patrick.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mariane Rita and Roy Louis DuPraw; her grandson, Coty; and her husband of 58 years, Paul E. Falls.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. A funeral service will occur in the funeral home at 12:30 PM. A Committal Service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, FL 33469.
