

Carol A. John, aged eighty-four, quietly went to her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Thursday, February 12, 2026 with her husband and nephew holding her hands. She was born on May 23, 1942 in Portchester, NY.
After high school, Carol graduated from Grace New Haven Hospital as a nurse, followed by earning her Bachelors at William Patterson University in N.J. and a Masters at NYU in New York City.
On October 3, 1987, Carol married Wesley John and had a very joyful and active life. She left Mt. Sinai Hospital in NY, where she taught Continued Education to become an Assistant Professor of Nursing at County College of Morris in Randolph, N.J., where she remained until retirement, teaching the next generation.
During retirement, on behalf of Healing The Children, N.J., Carol planned, coordinated and acquired volunteer surgeons, operation room nurses and support staff for surgical trips to the Dominican Republic, Nairobi, Kenya (1998 and 2000) and Thailand for Plastic, Urology, Eye surgery and for the first time in Kenya, Micro Surgery. Over 282 children, ages four months thru age eighteen had life altering surgeries that substantially improved their lives.
Carol is predeceased by her parents, August and Marie Schumacher, who emigrated from Germany and her beloved brother, Ralph Schumacher.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wesley John; her nephew, Gregory Schumacher, his wife Ruth and their children Lauren and Steven. Carol was seen as a second mother to Greg, as they shared a life of love, respect and affection. In addition, Carol is also survived by her niece, Lisa Kennedy, her husband Mike and their son Christopher; step children, Beth John, Paul John and his children, Dillon, Noelle, Kiersten and great granddaughter, Emma, whom she loved dearly.
A surgical error led to her death. Carol’s ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden at First Presbyterian Church of Tequesta, Tequesta, FL and a Memorial Service will be planned in the near future.
