Daniel Victor Panker, 80, fondly known as Dan, was born February 13, 1939, in Floral Park, New York. He graduated from Martin Van Buren High School and then joined the Marine Corp, Platoon 224, in 1958, serving proudly until 1961. He continued his education at Pace University.
Dan was a devoted and adoring husband to Stephanie Guadagno Panker, who he first laid eyes on in typing class over 62 years ago. Dan was 17 and Stephanie, 15. He often recalled the unforgettable memory of the beautiful brunette in her yellow and brown jumper as he chivalrously carried her books home from school. It was love at first sight. Married for over 55 years, their love is steadfast and true.
A highly regarded Wall Street professional, he began his career humbly as a ticker tape reader at the Morgan Bank. His sharp mind, tenacity, integrity, and radiant personality led him to become Head of Equity Trading at Alliance Capital for over 30 years.
Dan was a faith-filled man. His wife and family were his greatest love. He had a charitable heart that extended far beyond those closest to him. His generosity was boundless, yet understated. He always lent a hand or an ear to one in need.
Dan was a varsity athlete, proud Marine, avid golfer, music enthusiast and classic film aficionado. He embarked on countless adventures and traveled the world with his charming, charismatic wife.
Grateful of the success that arose from his humble beginnings and in awe of the precious family he created, Dan often remarked, “I lived a blessed life.”
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie, his devoted daughters, Pamela Parker and Christie O’Connor, his faithful son-in-laws, Don Parker and Bart O’Connor, his adoring granddaughters, Delaney and Emory Parker, Avery, Tyler and Morgan O’Connor, his dear sister, Claire O’Donoghue, loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends.
He is predeceased by his cherished parents, Richard and Claire, and brothers Richard and Kevin.
