Scotty spent her time between New York City and Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She met the love of her life, Joseph, at 16 years of age in the Bronx. She was married to Joseph, whose nickname was Sonny, for 78 years until he passed on January 20, 2026, at age 104.
Together they had four children, Jo-Ann, John who predeceased them in 1978, Joseph (Anne) and Janie (Thomas); five grandchildren, Joelle, who predeceased them in 2019, John Anthony, Tommy John, Michael Joseph, and Alyssa Nicole; five great grandchildren, Joey, Emmie, Rawko, Easton and Summer; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Florence was predeceased by her brother, Douglas MacFarlane Marshal (Maureen), by brothers and sisters in law, Jack and Jennie Merla, John and Eileen Merla, and Ida and Victor Martin.
Scotty was an amazing person who would give you whatever you needed, a shoulder to cry on, words of encouragement, or sometimes she just like to smile at you and squeeze your arm. She touched many lives by providing words of wisdom, her compassion, and her way of letting you know she genuinely cared.
Florence was a religious person who loved Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother. Two of her favorite saints were Saint Jude and Saint Anthony who she prayed to often for others so they might be healed. She loved all kinds of animals. Stray dogs and cats often made their way to our yard. She enjoyed sitting out on her lanai watching the ducks swim on the pond. She loved reading the newspaper every day keeping her up to date on current events and what the weather would be like in sunny Florida.
Visitation will be held on April 10, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. A Funeral Service will take place at 4:30 pm.
