Frances L. Cummings, died peacefully in her home in Jupiter Farms, Florida on January 20, 2026. She was born in Western, Pennsylvania on October 26, 1941 and had a long successful career in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Frances will be remembered as a woman whose life was dedicated to caring for others with kindness, humility, compassion, commitment, generosity, and a quiet strength.
She lived her Catholic faith thru action and that faith guided her through life from a young age. As the eldest of her family, she cared for her three younger brothers, (Bill, Steve and Patrick) with a steady protective love that never faded. That sense of responsibility and compassion became the foundation of her life’s work and her deepest relationships.
She became an educator and nurtured students and staff to reach their highest potential. She led as an administrator with integrity and high expectations, holding others to the same standards she set for herself. Her presence alone encouraged excellence.
Frances loved animals deeply- her dogs and many cats over the years brought her unconditional joy and comfort. She and Peter fostered puppies and nurtured them for adoption. In another life she may have been a veterinarian.
Intelligent, thoughtful and curious, Frances-was always eager to learn something new and loved to have analytical conversations. She was an avid reader of history, fiction as well as non-fiction, current events, and biographies of people who lived meaningful lives.
Those who knew Frances well understood that she found joy in trying new recipes, preparing meals and setting a beautiful table. She was a gourmet cook, and her kitchen was a place where people felt welcomed, cared for and valued. Food was never just food but her way of saying “You matter”. Even when her health declined, she continued to prepare meals for her family and friends.
Though private by nature, Francis formed deep and meaningful relationships with her trusted friends. She was a loyal friend, a caring aunt, compassionate stepmother and a devoted wife. She gently offered realistic, genuine guidance with respect and compassion. She loved her nieces and was proud of the women they had become.
To those who grieve her loss, her devoted husband, Peter; her brothers, Bill and Patrick; her stepdaughters, Beth and Kim; her nieces, Kelly, Alexa and Candace; her dearest lifelong friend, Georgianne and all who were blessed to know her. Frances leaves a powerful legacy- a model of humility, service, faith and quiet strength. Her life reminds us that true impact does not come from loud words or grand gestures but from consistent kindness, humility, and a heart that always puts others first. Let’s be grateful to have traveled this life journey with her as our guide.
A funeral service will be held on February 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at Saint Peter Catholic Church, (Chapel) 1701 Indian Creek Pkwy, Jupiter, FL 33458. In lieu of flowers to donations may be made in Frances name to Furry Friends Humane, 100 Capital Street,
