Fred graduated from the University of Vermont. He was employed as an Executive Vice President for Mr. Christmas. He enjoyed playing golf, boating and traveling with his children and grandchildren around the world. Fred was active in the recovery community and a personal mentor to countless people who struggled with addiction.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Lois Herbst.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan Gabbe; three sons, Robert Gabbe and his wife Shan Chung of Hong Kong and their children, Samantha and Lauren Gabbe; Jay Gabbe and his wife Julie Gabbe of Jupiter, FL and their children Jack, Theo and Ella Gabbe and Dan Gabbe and his fiance, Joshua Adams of Brooklyn, NY; a niece, Sandi Shubitz and a nephew, Brian Herbst.
