Of Tequesta, Florida passed away peacefully on October 4, 2020. He was born on December 28, 1932 to the late Margaret and Edward Usher in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Helen and his children Cheryl (Joe), George Jr. (Lynnette), Maryellen (Phillip), Kathleen and Douglas. His grandchildren SeanRyan (Becca), Savannah, Erin, Patrick, Tanner (Megan), George III (Trey) and Sam; great granddaughter Lorraine. George is also survived by a brother Edwin (Lorraine) and his sister Lottie Ann; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Shannon Marie and his brothers Robert, Kenneth, David, and brother-in-law Edward Forshaw.
George proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, longtime member of the Hastings Fire Department and Southside Social Athletic Club. After retiring as a Policeman for The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, he and Helen moved to the beautiful hamlet of Palenville, NY and became a member of the Palenville Volunteer Fire Department until they became residents of Florida.
A Celebration of his Life will be held when time and circumstances permit.
