On June 24, 2013 John "Jack" Gutjahr, 74, found eternal peace alongside his brother Herman and sisters Irene and Edith, joining his beloved dog Angel for a walk through the pearly gates.
Jack was cantankerous, gruff and never afraid to speak his mind - traits that made him all the more lovable to those of us lucky enough to know his soft underbelly.
He devoted his life to helping others, first proudly serving his country in the Army, then as a Captain with the North Bergen, N.J. Fire Department retiring in 1993 after 30 years of brave service.
Jack enjoyed his 20 years of retirement in Florida playing golf, watching his New York Yankees and arguing with his wife over where to have lunch.
Precious memories of Jack will forever be held by his beloved wife of 27 years Diana Gutjahr and his children, Tish Lynch (Steve), John Gutjahr (Barbara), Steve Gutjahr (Maria), Lorraine Borriello (Mike), Barbara Cacace (Richard),Susan Pluchino (George), 12 Grandchildren Jennifer, Nicole, Danielle, Ryan, Frank, Jenn, Neil, Robert, Natalie, Michael, Diana, Michael; Great Granddaughter Angelina-Marie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28th from 6-8 PM, Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, June 29th at 10 AM, St. Peter Catholic Church, 1701 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter.
