James Guy “Jim” Minmier passed away peacefully at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on August 28, 2025, at the age of 86. Born April 26, 1939, in Paris, Arkansas, Jim was the son of the late George S. Minmier, Sr. and Ruby Pinkerton Minmier.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina B. Minmier, his brother, George S. Minmier, Jr., and grandson Ryan Clark Olsen.
Jim was deeply loved and admired by his family, friends and colleagues. He was not only a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, but also the heart of every gathering. His quick wit and incredible storytelling made him unforgettable—no one could tell a story quite like Jim. To know him was to be touched by his laughter, wisdom, and kindness, and his family will forever be proud of the life he lived, the obstacles he overcame, and the love he gave so freely.
He is survived by his children, James Guy Minmier, Jr. (Jessica) of Burleson, TX, Kimberly Ann Simpson (Wayne) of Magnolia, AR, William Lloyd Minmier of Magnolia, AR, Sheryl Stanley (Tom) of Marietta, GA, Laena Olsen (Saen) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Angie Davis of Colorado Springs, CO. He was the proud grandfather of, Ryan Minmier, Anna Minmier, Tara Minmier, Nicholas LeVrier, Adam (Mekayla) LeVrier, Adam (Becca) Stanley, Rachel (James) Stone, Jared Olsen, Bennett Haley, Brenner Haley, and Lorelai Minmier and was blessed with seven great-grandchildren.
Jim graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1961 with a B.A. in Marketing. A gifted musician, he was proud to have been first chair, all-state trumpet in high school and attended his first year of college at Henderson State on a music scholarship before transferring to the University of Arkansas. A natural leader, he served as an officer in Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, and the Blue Key National Honor Society. He was elected to Who’s Who in the College of Business Administration, held officer roles in the Civic and Marketing Clubs, and became one of the youngest editors of The Traveler newspaper. He also served as assistant editor of the Guild Ticker and the Razorback yearbook.
Jim began his career with Foley’s in Houston in 1961 and spent more than five decades in the furniture industry, with notable contributions at industry leaders such as Universal Furniture and Progressive Furniture, eventually rising to President/CEO of the International Division at Progressive. He retired in April 2017 after a successful 56-year career, leaving behind a respected legacy of leadership and mentorship.
Outside of work, Jim’s passions were many. He loved reading, golf, travel, football, and especially music. A faithful fan of the Gaither Vocal Group, he made yearly pilgrimages to Gatlinburg to hear them. He also loved singing in the local church choirs wherever he lived at the time.
But of all his blessings, none compared to his marriage to Nina. Together they built a life filled with faith, laughter, family, and devotion. True soulmates for over 43 years, Jim and Nina walked side by side in love until the very end, and their family takes comfort in knowing they are whole and reunited once more.
A combined Celebration of Life service for Jim and Nina will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blueprint 58 (Atlanta, GA) or Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County.
Jim will be remembered as a man of deep faith, abiding love and professional accomplishment. His family and friends are forever grateful for the lessons he taught, the laughter he brought, and the legacy he leaves behind.
