Jay Randolph Holman, sometimes called “Jay-bird” by close friends and family, aged 63, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on August 24, 2024. Son of Judith D. Holman and Richard J. Holman, he was born on May 5, 1961 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
After Jay graduated from Alexis I. Dupont High School in 1979, he went on to attend the University of Delaware and became a proud brother of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He, then, completed his degree in Hotel Management at Widener University.
Throughout Jay’s career, he worked in the management industry and held positions in hotel, restaurant, environmental services, and property management (to name a few).
In 2023, Jay retired and spent his time enjoying the new era of his life by relaxing, listening to good music, and going with the flow. He loved watching the South Florida thunderstorms roll in and being in nature, in general. Jay spent many happy years at the shore in Stone Harbor, NJ, surrounded by family and friends. You could always find him with a beach chair or a fishing rod in hand, anything where there was an opportunity to appreciate nature. As a sports lover, he enjoyed attending and watching baseball games. He loved a good MLB spring training game over at the Rodger Dean Stadium close by. For Jay, music was a constant companion. He really found joy in listening to his favorites and loved all types of it on any occasion.
Above all, Jay loved his family deeply. He is survived by his two daughters, Lauren Holman and Rachael Holman; his parents, Richard J. Holman and Judith D. Holman; his two siblings, Paige Holman and Chad Holman and wife Robin; as well as his niece and nephew, Sydney Holman and Zachary Holman.
Jay was a deeply beloved father, son, uncle, cousin, and friend. Although it was sudden and unexpected, the nature of his passing was quick and peaceful.
While we lost our most beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a good soul to many and a master at humor and witty timing to all. Jay had a way of getting anyone to laugh or smile at something he said with his lighthearted, free-spirited demeanor. He may have had his own way of showing it, but he would always be there if you needed him. His warmth, joy, humor, kindness, and spirit will be missed by those lucky enough to know and love him. He leaves a legacy of love, adventure, and treasured memories.
We invite you all to share your memories of him. He would have wished that we laugh and reminisce, and smile together during this time.
