

John M. Fennell, 80, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 8, 2025. John was born on May 17, 1944 in the Bronx, N.Y. He was the son of the late Bill and Julia Fennell (nee Cogan). John was the beloved husband of the late Ann M. Fennell (née Feely) for 53 years and together they raised their two daughters, Annmarie and Danielle. John and Ann were blessed with five grandchildren; Charlie, Jack and Danny Todd and Katie and Jillian Fullick. They cherished and adored their grandchildren and passed along their warmth, kindness and love to them.
John grew up in a close knit Irish-Catholic family in the Fordham section of the Bronx, N.Y. He graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School in 1962. John earned an academic scholarship to attend St. John's University, Queens, N.Y. While attending school, he worked as a vendor at both Yankee Stadium and the Polo Grounds. He graduated from St. John's with the class of 1966.
John married the love of his life, Ann, on April 15, 1967. Together, they decided to move to Rockland County where they would raise Annmarie and Danielle. First, in Garnerville, New York and then in Stony Point, New York. They called North Rockland home until retiring to West Palm Beach, FL in 2002.
John worked in sales for Proctor and Gamble, JS Stephens, Seventeen magazine and Woman's Day magazine. A tireless, hardworking man, he would finish his career as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Hachette Filipacchi Magazines. John was a mentor who was revered by so many who entered the advertising industry.
John loved to entertain and found joy in bringing family and friends together. Whether he and Ann were hosting the holidays, a weekend get together, or a spontaneous gathering, he created an atmosphere filled with warmth, laughter and good food. For John, it was not about the event - it was about the connections made and memories shared. His home was always open and his heart even more so.
John was passionate about the game of golf. Originally, a weekend warrior, due to family and work commitments, he made up for it over the past 30 years. He was a member of the Westchester Country Club and The Club at Ibis. He was most proud of his 4 hole in ones.
John is survived by his loving daughters, Annmarie and her husband, Chuck Todd and Danielle and her husband, Jon Fullick and his grandchildren Charlie Todd, Jack Todd, Katie Fullick and Jillian Fullick. John is survived by his brothers, Bill and his wife, Geri and Dennis and his wife, Nancy. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Eileen Nolan, Jean Schmitz and her husband Bill, brothers-in-law, Joseph Feely and wife, Pat and Bobby Feely. He is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Julia Gannon (Jimmy), his grandson, Danny Todd, and his in-laws Thomas and Margaret Feely.
A Memorial Mass will be held for John and Ann at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 26 John Street, Stony Point, N.Y. 10980 on Saturday June 7, 2025 at 10 AM.
