Joseph graduated from Warwood High School, Class of 1966, and earned his degree from West Liberty State College in 1971. He built a long and respected career in the steel industry, which took his family across the country. Through every chapter of life, Joseph remained grounded in what mattered most—his family.
A man of faith, Joseph was a member of the Catholic Church.
He retired early to spend more time with those he loved. Joseph and Rebecca traveled extensively across the United States and around the world, creating lasting memories. Whether exploring new places or enjoying time at home, he found his greatest happiness with his family.
Known for his steady presence, warm heart, and quiet strength, Joseph took immense pride in his roles as husband, father, and grandfather. As “Pappy,” he was a source of laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Caldwell, whose partnership and shared love of travel and family defined their life together; his three daughters, Jennifer Busby (Scott), Gretchen Carroll (Darin), and Jessica Elkin (Gregg); his cherished grandchildren, Talya (Ellias), Christopher, Chance, Tristan, Palmer, Jaret, and Anna, each of whom brought him immense joy and his sister, Jean Hlebiczki and her husband, Ronald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Paul Caldwell.
Joseph will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
