

Joseph W. Remedio of Ballen Isles, Palm Beach Gardens, the beloved son of Pasquale and Anna Mele Remedio of Wilmington, DE was born on August 22,1928 and passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 21, 2012. He was graduated from Archmere Academy and Goldey Beacom Business College in Wilmington. At the age of 21, Joe began a remarkable career in real estate and home construction. The conclusion of WW II was followed by a high demand for single family homes. During the suburbanization of Wilmington, he constructed several residential communities including Fairfield, Fairfield Crest, Carrcroft, Holly Oak, Stonehaven, Augustine Hills, and Forest Hills Park. When he was 30 years old, Joe focused his expertise on commercial properties.
He founded Joseph W. Remedio, Inc. General Contractor. His company built outdoor malls, medical buildings, office complexes and industrial plants. Working with Founder, Bill Gore, Joe designed and built the first W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. industrial plant in Newark, D,E. Other projects included apartment complexes, public schools, churches, and the Salem County, NJ Courthouse.
Within a few years, Joe's company expanded into South New Jersey and Florida. He frequently flew his Cessna 320 to distant construction sites. In 1973, the Engineering News Record included his company as one of the largest 400 General Contractors in America. After working a quarter century in the Northeast, Joe semi-retired to South Florida. His keen sense of style and architectural acumen enabled him to build several custom homes in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Joe was also involved with the construction of the Swimming Hall of Fame, a TV station, two schools and major hospital additions on both Florida coasts.
Joe enjoyed being Captain of his cabin cruiser La Dolce Vida and explored the Caribbean. He enjoyed gardening, reading, community activities and travel throughout Europe. He especially enjoyed much time in Sorrento, Capri and Venice Italy.
Always a loving and generous man and devoted family person, he was a gentle man who enjoyed life to the fullest while navigating an adventurous course throughout his lifetime. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Joe is survived by Bonnie Clark, his mate and companion, his son Joseph Remedio, Jr., daughter-in-law Terri, grandsons Joshua and Philip. of Downingtown, PA, brother Daniel (FL), brother Pasquale (DE), and sister Dr. Ann R. Patton (FL). He has many nieces and nephews throughout Delaware, Florida and Virginia. He was predeceased by his wives Lucille Hansen Remedio (FL) and Ann M. Remedio (DE).
Joe was dedicated to community service and belonged to the following organizations: Founding Member of Cavalier Country Club in DE; Ballen Isles Country Club; Jonathan's Landing Golf Club; Palm Beach Yacht Club; D'Amici Italia; and the American Owners and Pilot's Association.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe's life Tuesday July 24th 2PM - 4PM and 7PM - 9PM at the Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter. Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, 9999 N. Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens on Wednesday, July 25th at 10AM. Entombment will immediately follow at Boca Raton Mausoleum, 451 SW 4th Ave, Boca Raton.
